Cosmetic solutions for hair loss.

by:
Richard Mitchell

Many people suffering from hair loss prefer not to use the strong drugs and medications that currently form the best available treatment options. They may have tried a range of treatments but found they did not work or perhaps suffered unpleasant side effects. What options are left for such people, especially if they do not wish to consider surgery?

There are a number of solutions available but the final decision will be strongly influenced by the amount of thinning that needs to be covered.

1. Creative styling - this is perhaps the easiest option but its success depends on how far your hair loss has progressed. Slight balding can easily be camouflaged by careful grooming but attempts at covering large bald patches can end up looking ridiculous. One option for men with extensive thinning is to shave the head completely but this is not for everyone.

2. Hair cosmetics - this can include anything from hair thickening / volumizing products to dyes and fibers that blend with existing hair. Once again, these solutions really only work if the area of scalp to be covered is minimal.

3. Head coverings - seen by many as a last resort, wigs and hairpieces offer a further option. Once an object of derision, hairpieces have improved beyond recognition in recent years, although the price you are prepared to pay will determine the realism of the final result. Wigs come in all shapes and sizes and can be made from real or synthetic hair, but be warned the best ones are very expensive.

Finances and Marriage

by:
Jeffrey Broobin

Money is one of the most important areas of possible arguments in marriage and is without fail among the top four reasons for divorce. Furthermore, having a lot of money does not exempt couples from the pressure of dealing with money. Financial issues occur between couples across the economic range from wealth to poverty.

Couples who work together as a team and can reach agreement about financial matters are happier than couples that perpetually disagree about finances. Closely related to financial matters are two other important areas that couples must consider: career decisions and desired lifestyle. The result may be that one’s career goals and attainment of material wealth may conflict with their relationship goals. What is most important to you and do the two of you agree about that? Economic issues can dictate such things as working long hours to the detriment of the family, the necessity for a specific geographical location, the role of each the spouse in attaining the desired level of financial success, Do you think it's possible to "have it all"? A frank exploration of financial styles, expectations and goals is extremely important to marriage success.

Money means different things to different people. Financial attitudes often reflect one's most basic feelings about the world and are usually learned in one's culture and family of origin. Status, security, freedom and control are just a few of the things people associate with money to different degrees. Some people regard money as important for happiness while others regard it as merely giving a certain level of security. Some people are "savers"; others are "spenders". Some are open about money; some aren’t. Some people are OK with debt, while it frightens others and causes them stress.

Disagreements about money often reflect hidden issues of a couple. Money issues are seldom just about money, but rather about relationship issues like power and control, dependence and independence, commitment, and trust.

By considering what money means to each of you and how its meaning influences your financial behavior, you can begin to see the role that money will play in your relationship. These issues are behind many more concrete differences concerning finances. Once you've come to terms with your feelings about money, it will be less difficult to make satisfactory financial plans and resolve financial problems.

Atkins Diet Basics

The Atkins diet is not a new phenomenon. The diet first appeared in the late 1970s and has grown popularity in recent years in response to the low-fat diet craze. As dieters had trouble with low-fat plans, they searched for a new solution and Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution book found a new audience.

A lot of people have jumped on the Atkins bandwagon and there has been a lot of hype as a result. But what are the basic principles of the Atkins diet?

The Atkins diet is based on a theory of why we get fat. According to Dr. Atkins, the over-consumption of carbohydrates and simple sugars leads to weight gain. The way your body processes the carbohydrates you eat have more to do with your waistline than the amount of fat or calories that you consume. In his book, Atkins outlines a phenomenon called “insulin resistance.” He theorizes that many overweight people have cells that do not work correctly.

When you eat excess carbohydrates and sugar, your body notices that sugar levels are elevated. Insulin is released from the pancreas in order to store sugar as glycogen in the liver and muscle cells for extra energy later on. However, your body can only store so much glycogen at once. As soon as your body reaches its limit for glycogen storage, the excess carbohydrates are stored as fat. This happens to everyone who eats too many carbohydrates.

However, insulin resistant individuals have an even harder time of using and storing excess carbohydrates. The more insulin that your body is exposed to, the more resistant it becomes. Overtime, the pancreas releases more insulin and cells become insulin resistant. The cells are trying to protect themselves from the toxic effects of high insulin. They create less glycogen and more fat.

As a result, insulin resistant individuals gain extra weight. The carbohydrates get converted into fat instead of energy. Other side effects include fatigue, brain “fog” (the inability to focus, poor memory, loss of creativity), low blood sugar (which can leads to hypoglycemia), intestinal bloating, sleepiness, depression and increased blood sugar. There is much more than weight at stake when you are insulin resistant.

The remedy for people who are insulin resistant is a diet restricted in carbohydrates. The crux of the Atkins diet is a limitation of carbohydrates in all of its forms. The foods restricted on the Atkins plan include simple sugars (like cookies, sodas and sweets) and complex carbohydrates (like bread, rice and grains). Even carbohydrates that are considered healthy, such as oatmeal, brown rice and whole wheat bread, are restricted on the program.

The diet has you restrict your carbohydrate intake to less than 40 grams a day. This will put your body in a state of ketosis. While in ketosis, your body will burn fat as fuel. According to Dr. Atkins’ research, the ketosis state will also affect insulin production and it will prevent more fat from being formed. Your body will begin using your stored fat as an efficient form of fuel, and you’ll lose weight.
Another benefit of the Atkins plan is that ketosis will end your cravings for carbohydrates. If you’ve been living on a carb-heavy diet, you may have found that you simply cannot get enough carbohydrates. With carbohydrate restriction and ketosis comes a reduction in carbohydrate cravings. People who have been on the Atkins diet for some time report that they do not crave carbohydrates as they once did.

Although the initial phases of the Atkins diet are rather strict, the program teaches you to restore balance to your diet in the long run. People who use the diet slowly reintroduce minimal amounts of carbohydrate into their eating until they find a comfortable balance between their health and carbohydrate use.

The basic principles of the Atkins diet have been adapted to many other low-carb diet plans. However, Atkins popularity still remains strong as one of the most effective low-carbohydrate solutions for those who are insulin resistant.

Top 10 skin care tips

Healthy skin is really one of the most important ingredients for beauty-enhancement. This article on skin care tips is an effort to bring the 10 best skin care tips to you. The list of skin care tips has been restricted to 10 because anything more that that would not only be difficult to remember, but also shadow the more important skin care tips. So let’s see what these top ten skin care tips are:
* Knowing your skin type is one of the most important skin care tip. This is important because not every skin care product suits everyone. In fact, all the skin care products specify the type of skin they cater too.
* ‘Drink a lot of water’. This will not keep your skin moist but will help in overall upkeep of your health (and in turn your skin). It might seem a bit awkward to some, however, this is an important skin care tip.
* Cleanse your skin regularly (1-2 times everyday). A very effective skin care tip that helps in getting rid of the dirt and other harsh elements from your skin. Cleansing is especially important when you have been out of your house (and hence exposed to pollutants, dust etc). This skin care tip also advocates the use of Luke warm water for cleansing (hot and cold water, both, cause damage to your skin)
* Be gentle, after all it’s your skin. Don’t scrub/exfoliate too hard or too often. Similarly, don’t apply too much or too many skin care products. A must-to-follow skin care tip.
* Keep your skin moist at all times. This is one of the most important skin care tip. Don’t let your skin get dry. Dryness causes the outer layer of your skin to break, leading to a rough and unattractive appearance. Use moisturisers/ emollients. Moisturisers work best when applied while the skin is still damp.
* Avoid the use of soap on your face. Soap should only be used from below the neck. A small but important skin care tip.
* Use sunscreen to protect yourself from sun’s harmful UV radiations. You can use day-time moisturisers that have sunscreen built into them. Use them even when it’s cloudy. UV radiations are known to cause skin cancer, so follow this skin care tip without fail.
* A bit of exercise and good sleep are essential too, not just for skin care but for your health as a whole. Lack of sleep can lead to formation of wrinkles below your eyes and lack of exercise can cause your skin to slack. Moreover, exercise and sleep also help in beating stress. So besides being a skin care tip, this is also a health care tip.
* Treat skin dilemmas with care. This skin care tip is about not ignoring any skin dilemmas. Consult your dermatologist before you go on to use a skin care product (lest you do end up harming your skin even more).
* Beat the stress. The harmful effects of stress are known to everyone, however, sometimes stating the obvious is essential too (and hence this skin care tip found its place here). Yes, stress harms skin too. So, take a break or indulge in a warm bubble bath or just get good sleep.

What is Natural skin care?

Put simply, ‘natural skin care’ is caring for your skin in a natural and chemical-free way. ‘Natural skin care’ advocates enabling the skin to take care of itself (without any assistance from synthetic materials/ chemicals). ‘Natural skin care’ is about inculcation of good habits in the way you lead your day to day life. A lot of natural skin care measures are actually the same as those for body care in general.

So let’s see what these natural skin care measures are.

Well the first and the foremost natural skin care measure is – ‘Drink a lot of water’. Around 8 glasses of water is a must everyday. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body, in a natural way. It helps in the overall upkeep of the body and promotes good health for all organs (not just skin).

General cleanliness is another inexpensive way of natural skin care. Daily shower, wearing clean clothes and sleeping on a clean mattress/pillow are all part of general cleanliness. After all, clean skin is the key to keeping the skin disorders at bay.

Regular exercise is the next thing on the cards. Exercise increases the flow of blood that helps in getting rid of body toxins and keeping you healthy. Exercise also helps in beating stress which is the worst enemy of good health.

Healthy food and eating habits are also recommended for natural skin care. Some type of food (e.g. oily food) is know to cause acne and should be avoided as much as possible. Your diet should be a healthy mix of various nutrient providing foods. Raw fruits and vegetables are known to provide freshness to your body and help in getting rid of body toxins.

A good sleep is also instrumental in maintaining good health and in beating stress. As a natural skin care measure, a good sleep delays slacking of skin.

Beating stress is another natural skin care therapy. Stress causes overall damage to body and health. Drinking a lot of water, getting a sound sleep and exercise has already been mentioned as stress busters. Indulging in a warm bubble bath, listening to music and playing your favourite sport are also good ways of beating stress. Yoga is yet another way of beating stress; it is fast gaining popularity amongst the masses.

Avoiding excessive exposure to sun (by wearing long sleeved clothes, hat and umbrella etc), is another natural skin care strategy. Sunscreen lotions are also recommended as necessary.

A lot of traditional and home made natural skin care products/ measures are also known to be very effective. Such measures are not only natural and easy-to-follow, but also relatively inexpensive.

Besides that, a lot of natural skin care products are available in the commercial market. These include things like lavender oil, aloe vera etc., which don’t have any side effects.

Benefits of Detoxing for Fitness and Health

It seems to be a little disgusting when you are detoxing or cleansing. Your body shows some signs that you have built up toxins. These toxins can affect your whole body fitness and health.

There are times that you feel sluggish and feel the stressful. Your body may experience continuous aching, diarrhea, constipation, and feeling of clumsiness. Rapid weight gain and the incapacity to lose the excess weight can also be signs of having toxins in the body.

Moreover, the toxins found in the body are found and stored on your fat cells. For Americans who are taking the usual American diet, a person may consume 70 trillion garbage cans for each cell. In detoxing your body and cleaning that unwanted garbage in your cells, you should pay attention on your elimination organs.

There are particular organs in your body that deal on cell waste management. These organs play a major role in the detoxing process for a fit and healthy body.

1. Your liver is the organ that recycles the unwanted chemicals in the body. It sorts out the toxins and places them to the organ for elimination during the process of circulation. The principal elimination organs will back up the liver on where these toxins will be stored and then eliminated.

2. The lymph glands also play an important role in eliminating the toxins. A network of tubing brings out the excess waste of the cells from the body and to the final eliminating organs. The appendix, thymus, tonsil, and spleens are major lymphatic glands that help the major organs of the body in cleansing and detoxing.

3. The kidneys help in the water management of the body. They are the ones that keep the good chemistry of the blood alkaline by eliminating the dissolved acid waste. You can help your kidney to function very well by drinking plenty of water. It is much better if you drink fresh alkaline juices and purified water. You may take ½ ounce of alkaline everyday to see positive results on your body weight.

4. The lungs are the organs that keep the blood air purified. They allow the oxygen to go directly to the bloodstream. It is also responsible in removing waste gases that are found in every cell of the body. Deep breathing and fresh air is very helpful in keeping the lungs healthy and free from toxins. If you are in the urban area, it is recommended that you find an oxygen rich area where you can perform deep breathing.

5. The colon is a solid waste management organ in your body. Medical practitioners have found many peolpe that may have an 80-pound mucus and rubber like solid waste that are found on the walls of the colon. Detoxing and cleaning the colon can be a real tough thing to do. However, having a free waste colon can certainly provide you good benefits of having a clean and healthy body.

If you are experiencing some signs of detoxification, you may try doing a regular walking exercise. Exercise is a good key in having a fit and healthy body. Many diet doctors also suggest that you drink plenty of lemon water. This is an effective way of maintaining a very good circulation and can increase the rate of detoxification inside the body.

Choosing the Best Fashion School for You

The word “best” is always relative. What’s best for you may not be the best for others. This is the reason why you should not trust a business that claims to be the best. You need to compare various fashion schools in order to actually find the best one for you. In comparing fashion schools, however, you are going to need some standards. Here are some standards you can use:

1) Cost – some people think that the best fashion schools are the most expensive ones. These people think that just because education is expensive, it is also high quality. What you need to know is that studying fashion is not cheap. However, it doesn’t really need to be ridiculously expensive. Some schools just want to appear exclusive in order to attract more students. They pretend to be the best fashion schools by charging outrageous fees to those who wish to be students.

Because of this, you should understand that cost is not the best standard to use in judging quality.

2) Location – there are people who think that attending the best fashion school means going to Europe. They believe that in order for a fashion school to be among the best, it should be located as far away from their hometown as possible. There are some positives to this view. Schools located in fashion centers tend to be more aggressive in their education. They also tend to be more updated on the world of fashion. If this is the sort of school you think is best for you then go attend it.

You need to remember, however, that some things require a lot of sacrifice.

3) Prestige – some people think that the best fashion schools are the ones that get featured in magazines and the television. They believe that attending such schools would rub a little of the prestige of onto them. People believe that the best fashion schools are the most well-known ones. However, you need to remember that sometimes, the best fashion schools like to keep quiet about their greatness. All the magazines in the world could not compare to the testimonials of other people. It is often the case that the best fashion schools do not get known through the papers, but through the words of their students.

4) Instructors – some think that the best fashion schools are the ones which hire famous personalities as instructors. In fact, they may have a point. People in the fashion industry do not get famous if nobody likes their work. However, there is one drawback to this: people in the fashion industry are almost always competing against each other. This competition can be very distracting and may hinder the learning process.

5) The alumni – there are also people who think that the best fashion schools are the ones attended by successful personalities. They believe that the past will be the guide of people to face the future. Because of this, people often seek out the schools of well known fashion personalities and set out to fulfill their dreams.

Before you use this standard to judge the best fashion school, you need to remember that schooling is only a small part of a person’s greatness. It is an important part, of that you can be sure. However, you need to remember that greatness always lies within yourself.

TEACHING A CHILD TO WALK.

by ambarwati

Exercise is essentially important to the health of the infant. Its first exercise, of course, will be in the nurse's arms. After a month or two, when it begins to sleep less during the day, it will delight to roll and kick about on the sofa: it will thus use its limbs freely; and this, with carrying out into the open air, is all the exercise it requires at this period. By and by, however, the child will make its first attempts to walk. Now it is important that none of the many plans which have been devised to teach a child to walk, should be adopted the go-cart, leading-strings, etc.; their tendency is mischievous; and flatness of the chest, confined lungs, distorted spine, and deformed legs, are so many evils which often originate in such practices. This is explained by the fact of the bones in infancy being comparatively soft and pliable, and if prematurely subjected by these contrivances to carry the weight of the body, they yield just like an elastic stick bending under a weight, and as a natural consequence become curved and distorted.

It is highly necessary that the young and experienced mother should recollect this fact, for the early efforts of the little one to walk are naturally viewed by her with so much delight, that she will be apt to encourage and prolong its attempts, without any thought of the mischief which they may occasion; thus many a parent has had to mourn over the deformity which she has herself created.

It may be as well here to remark, that if such distortion is timely noticed, it is capable of correction, even after evident curvature has taken place. It is to be remedied by using those means that shall invigorate the frame, and promote the child's general health (a daily plunge into the cold bath, or sponging with cold salt water, will be found signally efficacious), and by avoiding the original cause of the distortion never allowing the child to get upon his feet. The only way to accomplish the latter intention, is to put both the legs into a large stocking; this will effectually answer this purpose, while, at the same time, it does not prevent the free and full exercise of the muscles of the legs. After some months pursuing this plan, the limbs will be found no longer deformed, the bones to have acquired firmness and the muscles strength; and the child may be permitted to get upon his feet again without any hazard of perpetuating or renewing the evil.

The best mode of teaching a child to walk, is to let it teach itself, and this it will do readily enough. It will first crawl about: this exercises every muscle in the body, does not fatigue the child, throws no weight upon the bones, but imparts vigour and strength, and is thus highly useful. After a while, having the power, it will wish to do more: it will endeavour to lift itself upon its feet by the aid of a chair, and though it fail again and again in its attempts, it will still persevere until it accomplish it. By this it learns, first, to raise itself from the floor; and secondly, to stand, but not without keeping hold of the object on which it has seized. Next it will balance itself without holding, and will proudly and laughingly show that it can stand alone. Fearful, however, as yet of moving its limbs without support, it will seize a chair or anything else near it, when it will dare to advance as far as the limits of its support will permit. This little adventure will be repeated day after day with increased exultation; when, after numerous trials, he will feel confident of his power to balance himself, and he will run alone. Now time is required for this gradual self-teaching, during which the muscles and bones become strengthened; and when at last called upon to sustain the weight of the body, are fully capable of doing so.

Exercise during childhood.
-------------------------

When the child has acquired sufficient strength to take active exercise, he can scarcely be too much in the open air; the more he is habituated to this, the more capable will he be of bearing the vicissitudes of the climate. Children, too, should always be allowed to amuse themselves at pleasure, for they will generally take that kind and degree of exercise which is best calculated to promote the growth and development of the body. In the unrestrained indulgence of their youthful sports, every muscle of the body comes in for its share of active exercise; and free growth, vigour, and health are the result.

If, however, a child is delicate and strumous, and too feeble to take sufficient exercise on foot, and to such a constitution the respiration of a pure air and exercise are indispensable for the improvement of health, and without them all other efforts will fail, riding on a donkey or pony forms the best substitute. This kind of exercise will always be found of infinite service to delicate children; it amuses the mind, and exercises the muscles of the whole body, and yet in so gentle a manner as to induce little fatigue.

The exercises of horseback, however, are most particularly useful where there is a tendency in the constitution to pulmonary consumption, either from hereditary or accidental causes. It is here beneficial, as well through its influence on the general health, as more directly on the lungs themselves. There can be no doubt that the lungs, like the muscles of the body, acquire power and health of function by exercise. Now during a ride this is obtained, and without much fatigue to the body. The free and equable expansion of the lungs by full inspiration, necessarily takes place; this maintains their healthy structure, by keeping all the air-passages open and pervious; it prevents congestion in the pulmonary circulation, and at the same time provides more completely for the necessary chemical action on the blood, by changing, at each act of respiration, a sufficient proportion of the whole air contained in the lungs, all objects of great importance, and all capable of being promoted, more or less, by the means in question.

MOTHERS' ROLE IN COMBATING DISEASES OF CHILDREN

by ambarwati

The especial province of the mother is the prevention of disease, not its cure. When disease attacks the child, the mother has then a part to perform, which it is especially important during the epochs of infancy and childhood should be done well. I refer to those duties which constitute the maternal part of the management of disease.

Medical treatment, for its successful issue, is greatly dependent upon a careful, pains-taking, and judicious maternal superintendence. No medical treatment can avail at any time, if directions be only partially carried out, or be negligently attended to; and will most assuredly fail altogether, if counteracted by the erroneous prejudices of ignorant attendants. But to the affections of infancy and childhood, this remark applies with great force; since, at this period, disease is generally so sudden in its assaults, and rapid in its progress, that unless the measures prescribed are rigidly and promptly administered, their exhibition is soon rendered altogether fruitless.

The amount of suffering, too, may be greatly lessened by the thoughtful and discerning attentions of the mother. The wants and necessities of the young child must be anticipated; the fretfulness produced by disease, soothed by kind and affectionate persuasion; and the possibility of the sick and sensitive child being exposed to harsh and ungentle conduct, carefully provided against.

Again, not only is a firm and strict compliance with medical directions in the administration of remedies, of regimen, and general measures, necessary, but an unbiased, faithful, and full report of symptoms to the physician, when he visits his little patient, is of the first importance. An ignorant servant or nurse, unless great caution be exercised by the medical attendant, may, by an unintentional but erroneous report of symptoms, produce a very wrong impression upon his mind, as to the actual state of the disease. His judgment may, as a consequence, be biased in a wrong direction, and the result prove seriously injurious to the welldoing of the patient. The medical man cannot sit hour after hour watching symptoms; hence the great importance of their being faithfully reported. This can alone be done by the mother, or some person equally competent.

There are other weighty considerations which might be adduced here, proving how much depends upon efficient maternal management in the time of sickness; but they will be severally dwelt upon, when the diseases with which they are more particularly connected are spoken of.

Family Holidays: Tips for Peace and Harmony

by ambarwati

What do you like to do on family holidays? Go to the beach or spend a week in the country? Maybe you like camping or visiting relatives. Whatever you enjoy, family holidays are a chance for everyone in the family to get reacquainted and spend quality time together. It's a chance for parents to really talk with their teens and find out what's going on in their lives. It's important to keep the communication lines open, and a family holiday is a good time to do that. Having a good relationship with their parents is one of the most important factors in keeping teens out of trouble.

Studies have shown that when families take holidays together, they are more likely to eat together and are less likely to argue. They do not watch as much television because they are involved in doing things together. Kids even report that their parents seem to act differently while on holiday.

While family holidays are a good time to connect with your kids, communication problems that are already there will not automatically disappear. Especially with teenagers it is important to listen and be flexible. Find out what the kids would like to do and eat and plan accordingly. While even teenagers need boundaries, it is important for parents to try to avoid needless confrontation. Explain why you make the decisions you do and show them positive attention.

Kids will appreciate being included in travel plans. There's a good chance they will choose a theme park or the beach if those are among the options. Sometimes it works well for a teenager to take a special friend along on family holidays. While this might increase the parents' load, the teen is likely to really appreciate it. Also, sometimes it works well for kids to go on holidays with their grandparents instead of their parents. Sometimes there is a special relationship here that can help kids open up and communicate about their concerns.

While on family holidays, if teens are uncooperative or behave improperly, try to deal with the problem in private. Teens are very aware of embarrassmant and it is needlessly mean to exploit this sensitivity. In fact, you might explain to the kids how their behavior embarrasses you, and they in turn might work harder at getting along and acting appropriately.

Kids will be happier on family vacations if they have snacks, drinks, and entertainment. Few kids enjoy a long ride in the car! Try to provide individual CD players or hand-held video games, and don't forget to take plenty of bathroom stops. Sometimes kids enjoy the ride more if they can help you follow the map. This is an educational activity for them as well. By following these suggestions, your family holidays can make a happy memory.

Cosmetic Surgery Costs - More Than Just Money? By Adam Hefner

The majority of medical procedures are fairly expensive. Cosmetic surgery costs are no exception to this rule. Furthermore, they are not typically covered by insurance. Sometimes, however, the cost involves more than just money.

Cosmetic surgery also requires a significant amount of time. Surgeries are not without complications, and the decision to proceed with a surgical procedure should not be made lightly. Take time to carefully consider your decision and be sure that this is right for you.

If you have decided to proceed with the surgery, the next step is locating a skilled physician to perform your procedure. Take time to interview potential surgeons until you are comfortable with their skill level and experience. Failing to take this extra time could cost you significantly in terms of recovery and potential complications.

Complications can add significantly to the cost of cosmetic surgery. If, for example, you develop an infection after the procedure, you will spend additional money for antibiotics and repeat physician visits. If a severe infection should develop, you may have to have additional surgery or medications.

Unfortunately, the costs of these surgeries, because they are a result of the cosmetic procedure, are not always covered by your insurance. Furthermore, operations to treat infections are often performed by specialists, and can be quite expensive. In addition, severe infections often require long-term intravenous antibiotics, which are very costly and can themselves cause undesirable side effects.

Some surgical procedures may entail the risk of many other complications as well. You may experience bleeding, blood clots, or scarring. Medications used to treat these complications can also be very costly, and may or may not be covered by your insurance.

In addition to the actual cost of the cosmetic surgery, you may face additional time away from your job if you experience further complications. This can also be costly. If you are unfortunate enough to be away from your job for an extended time, you could even lose your job.

Most of the time, people have few or no complications as a result of these procedures. Be aware, however, that these problems can and do occur. When you are evaluating all of the details, be aware of these additional cosmetic surgery costs. Don't allow your desire to improve some aspect of your appearance blind you to the real possibility that you may pay much more than the listed price for your plastic surgery!

It's Not All-Inclusive - Plastic Surgery Costs and Prices By Adam Hefner

Have you saved and saved to have that cosmetic surgery you've been dreaming about for years? Do you know everything that is and is not covered by standard quotes concerning plastic surgery costs and prices? The hidden charges may surprise you.

Frequently, people decide to finance plastic surgery procedures. If you need to get a loan to pay for the procedure, be sure that you are fully aware of the total cost involved. Talk to the surgeon before applying for the loan and try to obtain as accurate an estimate of the total charge as possible.

The majority of prices quoted by plastic surgeons include only the plastic surgeon's fee. Most physicians do not add the other costs associated with the surgery in their pricelist. This can cause considerable hardship for patients who do not have medical expertise or training.

The additional costs associated with, but not included, in most price quotes, are staggering. Fees associated with the cost of the operating room, for example, can be as much as $3,000 or more. Furthermore, depending on the type, anesthesia may cost up to $1,000.

This does not include medications associated with the procedure. Most patients receive antibiotics before surgery to prevent infection. In some cases they may also be required to take pain medication or medicine to help decrease swelling after surgery. These costs can add up quickly.

Most surgeons include the cost of the follow-up visit in their fees. Many, however, charge extra for treating any complications that may arise as a result of their procedure. Be sure that you inquire about these when interviewing the physician at the initial visit.

Although it may be tempting to try to save money by finding a surgeon who offers a reduced or discounted fee, this can be risky. Most physicians in a particular geographical area charge very similar fees for cosmetic surgical procedures. Those who advertise exceptional savings may be cutting costs at the risk of your health or safety.

Before you finalize the loan, get an accurate estimate of the expected cost. Because additional, unexpected costs may arise, have additional money on hand to cover unexpected charges. Plastic surgery costs and prices aren't usually as clear-cut as they appear to many inexperienced patients. Don't find yourself strapped for cash or maxing out a credit card because of lack of preparation. Be sure you clearly understand exactly what your financial responsibilities are!
Before anything, one should know what the plastic surgery costs and prices are. For more, visit http://www.Cosmetic-Surgery-101.com where you'll find this and much more, including your options with plastic surgery financing.

All Eyes See The Benefits of Blepharoplasty Surgery By Dr Barry Eppley

Facial aging around the eyes starts to develop early in the mid- to late thirties with excess skin, crow's feet, and lower eyelid bags for some. It only worsens through the 40s and 50s. This process makes the focal point of the face appear tired.Correction of those tired eyes through blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery is a very common plastic surgery procedure. Not looking so tired is the main reason why everyone considers blepharoplasty surgery.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid tucks) can make the greatest difference in reversing that tired aged appearance since it is the focal point of many human interactions. Removing a little excess skin and fat can really clean up your eyes and make you look less tired and more vibrant. This is why I always call blepharoplasty the best value of all the facial aging procedures. It causes the greatest positive change in your appearance.

One of the more interesting things about blepharoplasty is that it is painless to go through for most patients. Yes, there is some noticeable swelling and bruising around the eyes but remarkably, there is usually no pain. You look 'beat up' but you don't feel so. Recovery from blepharoplasty is what I call social recovery. When you feel comfortable again going out in public is what makes up blepharoplasty recovery. For some patients, they are not concerned about their appearance and they are out in public again in 3 to 5 days. Most patients do care, however, so their full return to the public eye may be closer to 7 to 10 days.

Blepharoplasty is one plastic surgery where what you do before and after the procedure can make a big difference in the amount of bruising and swelling that occurs. Stopping any aspirin and non-steroidal medications 3 weeks before surgery is the first step. Taking arnica tablets beginning one week before and after surgery is the next step. Keep your head and your eyes iced for the first 24 hours after surgery. I also place an Actipatch Eye Recovery mask immediately after surgery and onto this is where you place the ice. ActiPatch emits pulsed electromagnetic waves which help reduce swelling on the traumatized eyelids. After the first day after surgery, your main efforts are over other than keeping your eyelids moist with a light coating of antibiotic ointment. (this keeps the sutures soft so that they are easier to remove)

In 10 - 14 days, you will look 'non-operated', even though there is still some small amount of swelling and perhaps some line of bruising along the lower eyelid. By 3 weeks after surgery, you will be able to enjoy the full benefits of your blepharoplasty surgery! You will looke more refreshed and that will undoubtably be noticed...even though most will never figure that it was due to eyelid surgery. (unless you told them!)

Isn't Revision Surgery Just More Plastic Surgery? By Cynthia Rowland

A new industry within the industry of Plastic Surgery has arisen and it is called "Revision Surgery".

Under the Revision heading are many sub-headings but they have one thing in common: more surgery, more cutting of healthy tissue, more pulling, more tightening, more repositioning, more strings, more sculpting, more sutures, more injecting, more risks, more deaths and more dollars out of your wallet.

Revision Surgery is fixing things that went "bad" initially - bad nose jobs, bad breast implants, bad face lifts, bad brow lifts, bad eye lifts...you get the picture; think corrective surgery - fixing what hopefully can be fixed that got screwed up in the first place.

Some plastic surgery websites tell us that revision surgery is considered more difficult perhaps requiring a surgeon with a greater amount of skill and technique.

Plastic surgeons have never guaranteed their work so choosing to let another surgeon revise and correct the current unappealing physical situation may feel daunting.

It is.

Face lifts, brow lifts, neck lifts, eye lifts and more are very temporary fixes with permanent results. The altered face begins to sag after a few years and the patient must seek additional surgery, injections and laser treatments if they hope to look "normal".

Facial plastic surgery distorts the face over time and those muscles that once were sutured into place begin to lose their firmness and tightness; atrophied tissue is weak and this causes the facial features to unnaturally slide downward as they pool into other muscles and muscle groups.

This downward slide makes the face appear misshapen unless drastic revision methods are employed.

Facing more revision (elective) surgery will cost more than mere dollars. How are you guaranteed that you will like your results? What if you don't recognize yourself when you look in the mirror? What if your friends and family look at you in amazement thinking, "What has she done now?!?"

Opting for surgery is a big step that must be thoroughly weighed because once you allow cutting, you have forever lost your face in that you will never look like you again.

Oh sure, if surgery is needed to correct a malady, birth defect or physical challenge, it must be done. Using surgery to alter your appearance believing that this will make you look younger is flawed thinking.

Same with using injections that plump and paralyze. The reason you believe you need them is that the aging in your face is actually sagging facial muscles.

Loss of fat is the predominant cry but in actuality, the muscles that were positioned so perfectly when you were twenty five are becoming soft and mushy. This softening is creating the look of old.

If you have reached your fifties those once tight, well positioned facial muscles have now elongated about one-half inch so if you are wondering how those jowls and pouches arrived and set up camp on your jaw line, just know that the muscles around your mouth are slack.

It is the same with your eyelids. If your eye lids resemble crepe paper and they are droopy and saggy, this is a result of your forehead muscle elongating and pushing downward into the eye brows. This action affects your entire eye area as crow's feet become firmly etched at the corners of your eyes.

Blepharoplasty, eye lid surgery, has been very popular for over twenty years. As the forehead muscle continues to soften and elongate surgical revision after a few years is usually recommended because the eyelids continue to be affected with the gravitational lengthening of the frontalis muscle.

After a while you may begin to feel that you are like a gerbil on a wheel and that anti-aging is a very, very expensive process and extremely risky. Although initially one may look somewhat refreshed, there are always more procedures luring the susceptible and naïve patient searching for "the Fountain."

Long term use of procedures and injections may results in a freakish appearance that no amount of revision surgery can correct and if you want to avoid the gerbil wheel you may want to consider an all natural course of positive aging techniques to restore your facial features.

Using positive aging techniques such as isometric facial exercise puts you in the driver's seat and once you learn the movements, your face will look revitalized, tightened and lifted.

Each area of your face and neck can be exercised using your own personal "age erasers", your fingers and your thumbs. Learning to manipulate your facial muscles frees you forever from the need to use extraneous means to keep you looking younger.

Say no thanks to Revision Surgery and yes please to facial exercise!

Information About Cervical Cancer By Bardnurz Sham

When cells in an area of body grow abnormally, cancer can develop. Cervical cancer is abnormal cell growth in the cervix. The cervix is the part of the uterus that connects the upper part of the uterus (the womb). Cervical cancer is a serious condition that can be life threatening. It begins when women becomes infected with certain types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). If the immune system does not clear the infection, normal cells can begin to grow abnormally and turn into precancerous lesions. If not discovered early and treated, this abnormal cell growth can become cancer. Most often this can take a number of years, although in rare cases it can happen within a year.

Women who have been infected with certain types of HPV and have not been to clear the virus can get cervical cancer and pre-cancer. About half of all females diagnosed with cervical cancer are between 35 and 55 years old. Many of these women were most likely exposed to cancer causing HPV type during their teens and 20's. Most of the women who get cervical cancer may have never had a Pap test.

HPV is a common virus that affects both females and males. There are more than 100 types of the virus. Most types of HPV do not cause any symptoms, are harmless and are cleared. About 30 types of HPV are known as genital HPV since they affect the genital area. Some types can cause cervical cancer or abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix that could turn into cancer. Other types of HPV can cause genital warts and benign (noncancerous) changes in the cervix. HPV has also been linked to other rare disease including vaginal and vulvar cancer, as well as RRP (recurrent respiratory papillomatosis), a disease of the throat that makes breathing difficult. Because people who have HPV may not show any sign or symptoms, they can transmit the virus without even knowing it. Anyone who has sexual activity involving genital contact could get genital HPV, even if there is no sexual intercourse.

Because HPV usually has no sign or symptoms, most people infected with HPV don't know they have it. Most HPV infections are first discovered as a result of abnormal Pap test. A Pap test is part of a gynecological exam and helps detect abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix before they have the chance to become pre-cancer or cervical cancer. Many cervical pre-cancers (changes that could lead to cancer) are related to HPV and can be treated successfully if detected early. That's why early detection is so important.

Treated Cervical Cancer Which is Caused By HPV

By Bardnurz Sham
Currently there is no proven treatment for HPV (Human Papillomavirus). For majority of people who have HPV, the body's defenses are enough to clear the virus. It is possible ti treat some of the possible consequences of HPV infection, including abnormal cervical cells, cervical cancer and genital warts.

Genital warts are flesh colored growth that are most often caused by certain types of HPV. Genital warts often appear on the external genital or near the anus of females and males. Less commonly genital warts can on the cervix. It is estimated that approximately 10% of men and women will have genital warts in their lifetime.

Genital warts often do not cause symptoms. In some cases however, they may cause burning, itching or pain. A healthcare professional can usually recognize genital warts just by seeing them. Sometimes they are discovered in follow up visits after an abnormal Pap test.

Genital warts sometimes disappear on their own without treatment. However, there is no way to tell if they will disappear or grow larger. A healthcare professional may choose to apply a special cream or solution to the warts. Alternatively, some genital warts can be removed by freezing, burning, or using a laser treatment. If these treatments don't work, they may be removed by surgery. There is a chance that genital warts can reappear after treatment since th HPV that caused them may still be present.

What are the options?

- Regular pap test.

- Abstinence from all sexual activity.

- Maintain monogamous relationship with someone who has had no other or few sex partners.

- Limit the number of partners you have and choose your partners carefully. The fewer partners your partner had, the less likely he or she is to have HPV.

- Condoms may help reduce but is not fully protective against infections.

- Vaccination with HPV vaccine.

The Pap test looks for cells changes caused by genital HPV. It finds cell changes early, so the cells can be treated before they turn into cancer. This test can also find cancer in its early stages so it can be treated before it becomes life threatening.

Currently vaccination is available to prevent HPV infection and may reduce the risk of cervical cancer and HPV related diseases caused by certain types of HPV. Ideally females should get the vaccine before they are sexually active. This is because the vaccine is most effective in women/girls who have not yet acquired any of the HPV types covered by the vaccine.

Menopause - 7 Common And Troublesome Symptoms Of The Change Of Life!

By Jeanne May
Menopause is a natural part of a womans life that comes to all women usually during their 40s and 50s (can be earlier or later for some women), and is typically called the "Change of Life"... the transition from fertility to the end of their productive life.

The "Change of Life" occurs when the monthly cycle of ovulation comes to an end. Symptoms affect about 70% of women approaching or experiencing it and some symptoms can create havoc for many women.
7 common symptoms of menopause include:
Putting on weight : often around the waist, hips and thighs due to hormonal changes and changes in metabolism
Hot flushes/flashes: the most common and most troublesome symptom of menopause. It's a feeling of intense heat that comes all at once and can hit during the day or at night no matter what the weather. Intensity and duration of the flushes/ flashes varies from woman to woman but for many it is a troublesome and distressing experience that can last for years
Overwhelming fatigue: feeling as if you have run a marathon, feeling drained and as though you are running on empty even though your day has just begun
Problems sleeping even without night sweats: being wide awake at an early hour, waking up a lot at night, tossing and turning and sleep isn't restful. Sleeping problems can have profound effects on your physical and emotional well-being if they happen on a regular basis
Irregular menstrual cycle: irregular periods, shorter, lighter or heavier periods. Some cycles can be longer and then without warning the cycle becomes shorter
Memory loss and an inability to concentrate
Incredible mood swings feelings of dread, apprehension, overwhelming sadness, instant irritation... and everything in between... in the same day, and sometimes even in the same hour.... it's like being on an emotional roller coaster! This can become a problem if intensity and frequency of mood swings become uncontrollable

These symptoms can not only be disruptive for the woman experiencing them, but also for those close to the woman both at home and at work.

Menopause is something that will happen... but many of the symptoms can easily be controlled.

Arm Exercises For Women - Get Rid of Flabby Arms

By Jennifer Jolan
If you have flabby "bye-bye" arms, then continue reading to find out about 2 arm exercises for women that'll firm them up quickly. It's about time that you take care of this embarrassing problem once and for all.

Let's face it, when you wave goodbye to someone and they see your triceps jiggling around, it's kinda embarrassing, right? Well, I'm going to show you 2 exercises you can do to help minimize your flabby arms pretty fast.

Flabby Arms Exercises for Women

1. Isometric hand pushes

What you do is take both of your hands and put them facing each other at shoulder level in front of you. Now simply push your hands together as hard and as long as you can. The isometric tension this creates helps to firm up your triceps (back of your arms) as well as working your chest a bit.

This is a tough exercise after awhile. I recommend that you do it 10 times everyday for as long as possible each time.

2. Diamond pushups

What you do is take your hands and put them on the ground and extend your thumbs and pointer fingers so they touch each other in the shape of a diamond. Then just do normal pushups. Because your hands are together, this works more your triceps than your chest. Do 4 sets every other day. Because I don't know how many you can do right now, I won't give you a specific number of repetitions you should do. Just do as many as you can, even if it's only 1 or 2.

So if you want to get rid of flabby arms, try these 2 specific arm exercises for women.

Female Hot Flashes By Nancy Bachevy

If you're a woman and you're planning on living long enough to reach menopause, there is an almost seventy-five percent chance that you'll experience female hot flashes.

Others may experience hot flashes, too. Men who are involved with hormone therapies, pregnant women, people with low blood pressure or blood sugar levels, and those undergoing chemotherapy also experience them. However, female hot flashes before and during menopause are far more frequent.

Hot flashes can be different, based upon the individual experiencing them. While some lucky women may only experience occasional and mild discomfort, others can suffer for years with severe attacks. Frequency, duration and intensity of female hot flashes all vary a great deal.

Although medical professionals haven't definitively determined what causes hot flashes, the consensus believes that the hypothalamus, which acts as our body's thermostat, fails to function correctly during the hormonal shifts of menopause. It may believe the body is too hot or too cold at the wrong times, causing expansion and dilation of blood vessels that can set off female hot flashes.

Generally, female hot flashes involve an intensely hot feeling which usually emerges on the neck, shoulder or head. The face often reddens. The experience of increased temperature, predictably, leads to perspiration.

Many women experience a racing heartbeat while in the throes of a hot flash. Other symptoms may include a sense of dizziness, a headache or even a strong feeling of anxiety.

Hot flashes are an ugly and bothersome fact of life for millions of women. Their exact form, frequency and duration may vary, but most women will experience them before and/or during menopause.

Although mild hot flashes would be a mere inconvenience, countless women suffer from more intense episodes and have them with sufficient frequency to justify taking some kind of action. There are a variety of options available to those suffering from more intense female hot flashes. Hormone therapies are one option, but there are also many natural approaches to consider, as well.
You know why hot flashes can be so much trouble. They interrupt your day and embarrass you in front of family and friends. Stop suffering from hotflashes, take back your days and BEAT THE HEAT!

Breast Enhancement - How to Increase Your Breast Size

By Jennifer Jolan
If you're looking for a natural breast enhancement technique and want to know how to increase your breast size by 1 cup or more in less than a month, then this might be the most important thing you'll ever read.

Even if you're sceptical about this, what will it hurt to spend 2 minutes reading this article? No pills, no creams, and no surgery... just 1 simple exercise that takes less than 5 minutes!

Let's end this breast implants foolishness once and for all. I'm giving you a free alternative that is safe and easy. Just hear me out.

Here's how to increase your breast size with a natural breast enhancement exercise that is simple and quick.

Rub your hands together for 10 seconds to generate a kinetic heat. Now, take your hands and put them on your upper inner breasts. Now rub down and between your nipples, then under them, and then upward on the outside of them. Continue rubbing the circles in that manner.

You'll need to rub 200-300 circles at about a circle per second. So it'll take 3-5 minutes. If you're really dedicated and want to make this work, rub another 200-300 circles later in the day.

The logic as to why this works for increasing your boob size is because it stimulates the increase of blood flow to your breast tissues, helping them to expand.

Now, I can't guarantee this will work for you just like I can't guaranteed gas prices will be less than $3.50 a gallon for the rest of the year. But how about just giving it a 3-5 minute a day try for 3-4 weeks... what's 3 minutes a day if you can fix this problem once and for all without spending any money?

Now go increase your breast size by trying this breast enhancement exercise.
I know you read this article to learn about a natural breast enhancement exercise on how to increase your breast size, but if need to lose some weight and you're sick and tired of getting the same old boring and tired weight loss advice... you know, like "Eat more fruits and vegetables, drink 8 glasses of water, exercise more, and blah blah blah"... then you found the right person.

A Natural and Graceful Approach to Menopause

By Dr. Maegan Davis
Hormones are crucial in how we feel and how healthy we are!! Hormone imbalance can be caused from a wide variety of things such as an intense stress situation, ongoing pedal to the medal stress, surgical induced, thyroid or adrenal issues, and more. Hormones are very powerful substances found in very small amounts in our bloodstream. Our hormones determine our energy level, our emotional state, how we react to a situation, how our body functions at a cellular level, and many many more critical functions.

Testing hormones is vital in order to know exactly if an imbalance exists and where it may lie. Saliva testing is preferred because it tests for the active available hormone versus blood testing for the protein-bound inactive form. Also, for women who are still cycling, it is imperative to get multiple samples throughout the cycle as hormones rise and fall. It is much easier and less expensive to use saliva over blood tests. The ranges given to blood tests also reflect a very wide, and often unhealthy, range; whereas saliva has ranges more in the healthy range for women. Hormones should never be given without the proper testing and follow up.

Synthetic hormones are given routinely with traditional medical intervention. All HRT research has been done on women who have taken synthetic hormones. It is accepted and assumed that synthetic hormones act the same as natural hormones, and this simply is not true. Tell me, just how many horse hormones does a woman need??? Synthetic estrogen made from a pregnant mare's urine and synthetic progesterone have been linked to breast, uterine and ovarian cancer, heart disease and blood clotting. Natural progesterone is protective of cancer, heart disease and the formation of blood clots.

Typically, when hormones imbalance, progesterone is much lower in ratio to estrogen causing Estrogen Dominance. As a woman gets older, the ovaries slow down production of progesterone and the adrenal glands become the back up system by producing more progesterone. Despite conventional medical thinking, progesterone is a very necessary hormone after menopause. Estrogen is typically in abundant supply as it is produced in the fat cells and consumed in non-organic dairy products and meat. A woman in Estrogen Dominance will produce a multitude of symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, difficulty getting to or staying asleep, mood swings, depression, anxiety, sweet/carb cravings, salt cravings, weight gain, body aches and pains (which when left uncontrolled may become Fibromyalgia), fatigue (which may become Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), and many more. Estrogen Dominance is, most often, the cause of heavy bleeding which is the more common reason for hysterectomy. After which, a woman is put on more estrogen!! Obviously, the bleeding is halted but the Estrogen Dominance is enhanced.
There is a better way!! By testing the hormones accurately, understanding where the imbalance lies, we can rebalance the system using whole food supplements and herbs. Remember, hormones are very powerful substances found in very small amounts in our bloodstream. Hormones are part of a family, and they function and dysfunction together. Hormones, even bioidentical, should be used only as a temporary crutch or as a last resort and never slathered on in a more-is-better approach. And if hormones are used, testing and monitoring is vital. Otherwise, easily the wrong hormone could be given - once again upsetting the delicate balance. The use of supplements and herbs can frequently bring the body back into balance. The body was designed to regenerate for well over 100 years, and is internally driven to homeostasis - balance and health. We do not need to make the body healthy, we only need to allow the body to be healthy. http://www.naturalbodyinbalance.com

Women's Sexual Health and Progesterone

By Rozita Daud
When it comes to progesterone deficiencies it has a tendency to lead to a lot of other problems with women's sexual health and can actually make you infertile. Your levels of progesterone will rise and fall during your monthly cycle, with the highest concentration during ovulation. When fertilization does not occur, you're progesterone levels will again lower, and get ready to rise again with your next cycle. During pregnancy, progesterone affects not just the pregnancy but also the production of milk, the development of breasts, and without proper levels you have a chance of miscarriage.

There are ways to increase the progesterone levels in a woman's body, and can help you become more fertile. Natural progesterone therapy can be undertaken to push back, and lower the levels of progesterone. A very safe method, and it also has been studied enough to know that it will not result in birth defects.

If you're still having trouble carrying a fetus to term, it's time to consult a specialist. There are plenty of tests you can take to check for reasons for in fertility and low progesterone levels. Hormonal imbalances, that you may not even notice can keep you from carrying a baby full term. You may have to take different tests, at different times of your cycle in order to determine where exactly your progesterone levels are rising and falling.

The progesterone level is the easiest of fertility problems to fix, and has no side effects on the mother or the baby. You'll need a complete checkup including medical history before your doctor will prescribe progesterone therapy. It's important to have a complete history of your family as well as your own history of miscarriages, difficult pregnancies, or any illnesses you may have had. While progesterone is an easy fix, it's important have all of the history before heading for therapy.

You'll need to find a doctor who is conversant in women's sexual health as well as fertility problems. Even once you're pregnant, if you've had problems in the past with carrying your baby full term, you can start progesterone therapy and increase your chances of retaining. Progesterone is known to facilitate implantation and can actually help your body retain the developing embryo.

Although there may be many reasons for your miscarriages, infertility, or inability to become pregnant, the sooner you start your research into the medical reasons, the better off you'll be. Many doctors are now thoroughly conversant in fertility clinic procedure, and can help you retain or become pregnant. Women's sexual health is an important aspect of pregnancy as well as intimacy, and a thorough pregnancy history, medical history and genealogy history is going to be needed in order to accurately treat your infertility problems.

Solutions for Dehydrated Skin

If your skin lacks radiance and feels "tight" it is likely that it is dehydrated. The appearance of fine lines due to loss of elasticity and flexibility are other key signs of dehydrated skin. Moisture evaporates readily through the skin, and if we don't stop this occurrence our skin looses its ability to protect against the outside environment leading to even more moisture loss and in the long term, actual skin damage due to poor cellular integrity.
Wind, sun and pollution as well as internal factors such as diet, nutrient levels and hereditary all play a role in the determining the health of our skin as an effective barrier. The very outer layer of our epidermis (top skin layer) is the real protective layer of the skin. It is made up of flattened dead keratinocytes. These dead skin cells are regularly shed and replaced by deeper skin layers moving up to the surface. The glue that keeps the keratinocytes together is formed by lipids such as fatty acids ceramides and cholesterol. This layer forms a waterproof barrier that reduces "Trans Epidermal Water Loss" or TEWL, ensuring adequate moisture content for the skin. It is this barrier that protects against chemicals, irritants and micro-organisms. A deficiency in these epidermal lipids causes the water retention powers of the epidermis to be significantly reduced. Moisture evaporation and skin dehydration generally follow.
One section of the skin's waterproof moisture barrier is slightly acidic and as such is know as the acid mantle. The acidity of this layer is due to secretions from the sebaceous and sweat glands and its function is once again protection but in particular stopping the growth of bacteria and fungi. It also assists with maintaining the "glue" that keeps the outer layer skin cells bound together. If acid pH of the skin is disrupted it becomes more alkaline and starts to lose its protective properties.
It is the balance of sebum (skin oil) and perspiration that keeps the skin healthy. Skin dehydration occurs when the water and oils that form part of the protective layer are out of balance. This can happen for a number of reasons:
1. Evaporation of moisture through the skin. Factors that promote moisture evaporation include dry air (ie lack of humidity or airconditioning), wind, prolonged water exposure (swimming in pools or long showers).
2. Damage to the waterproof barrier or disruption of the acid mantle leaving the skin open to issues such as dehydration, roughness, infection, redness and irritation. Synthetic foaming agents such as sodium laurel sulphate are a significant cause of acid mantle disruption.
3. Low water and healthy fat intake - adequate water intake is required to maintain cellular fluid. Essential fatty acids from good fats help maintain the fatty membrane surrounding the cell, holding in moisture and nutrition.
4. Ageing. As we age, there is a reduction in the water holding capacity of the skin as well as the production of natural oils.
The first thing to do to combat skin dehydration is to remove any factors that directly contribute to moisture loss or skin damage. Avoid long, hot showers, open the windows instead of relying on air-conditioning and stop using products that contain sodium laurel sulphate. Repairing these factors will slow down water loss. Dietary factors will be addressed below but certainly ensure you are getting enough water each day which will help increase water content.
The next step is to repair the waterproof barrier and restore the skin's ability to attract and retain water. Ideally any skin care product applied will have a number of roles which include delivering nutrition which assists with repair, maintenance of the acid mantle and moisture barrier and a softening effect achieved by attracting water from the external environment. To achieve this, the ingredients must be able to be absorbed properly by the skin. Water based ingredients may have a temporary plumping effect on the surface of the skin but this effect will not last as the ingredients haven't been absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin. Lipids and oil soluble ingredients are more readily absorbed by the skin as are ingredients that have a smaller particle size.
Most cosmetic products on the market don't actually help the skin repair damage to the barrier or acid mantle. They act as emollients, reducing water loss from the skin by covering it with a protective layer. Effectively they keep water in the skin. Common emollient ingredients include butters, waxes and oils as well as products such as petroleum and lanolin. While emollients are helping to reduce the problem, they aren't actually remedying the underlying cause. The other issue with some emollient ingredients is that they may actually cause more problems.
Petroleum products such as mineral oil sit on the surface of the skin, stopping the skin from breathing and have the potential to block pores. By contrast natural waxes and oils allow the skin to breath. Some of the heavier waxes or butters may still block pores however natural carrier and essential oils are unlikely to have this effect.
When it comes to ingredients that achieve this end, our natural pantry is rich in ingredients that can help restore skin hydration rather than just masking the problem. Many natural carrier oils such as Rosehip, Sweet Almond, Tamanu, Marula, Jojoba and Evening Primrose Oil are readily absorbed by the skin. They have the ability to nourish the skin, provide an effective barrier to water loss and reduce TEWL.
Oils such as Rosehip also contain essential fatty acids (EFAs) that promote the repair of the cellular membrane, allowing skin cells to retain more water. Ironically if the skin cells are deficient in EFAs, it can cause the sebaceous glands to become overactive, producing more oil. With an EFA deficiency, the skin will often be oily through the T-zone and dry across the cheeks. As long as the appropriate natural carrier oils are used, they can have a balancing effect, reducing both oily and dry skin conditions. Ideal choices for skin that is both oily and dry include Rosehip and Sweet Almond.
Many carrier oils such Marula, Rosehip and Boabab also contain essential skin vitamins such as A, E and C that promote healthy cellular function. As antioxidants, the vitamins also help slow skin ageing.
What you do on the "inside" also has an impact in skin hydration. Reducing factors that have a diuretic effect such as alcohol and coffee will increase cellular hydration. The other key issue is ensuring adequate good fats in the diet. Good fats such as essential fatty acids (EFA's) ensure the cell membrane remains flexible. This allows the cell to excrete toxins and cellular waste products and hold onto nutrients and water. EFAs also help to keep skin flexible and hydrated and promoting skin healing. Deep Sea fish are among the best source of EFAs including tuna, salmon, anchovies and sardines. Other good sources of EFA's include avocado, nuts & seeds, flaxoil and Evening Primrose Oil.

Tips To Completely Blow Her Mind In The Bedroom

By Shana Mckenzie

It's so important that you treat women how they want to be treated in the bedroom. If you fail to deliver in this area then she will kick you out of the bedroom and her life quicker than you can say, 'Want to go again?' If you really want to make sure that she never leaves you then the best thing you can do is to become an incredible lover between the sheets. Achieve this and she'll dream about you night and day. Harnessing the power of these feelings truly is the difference between a healthy sexual relationship and a bad one. Once you've fully mastered this then women will fall at your feet. But one step at a time - become amazing first...
As a woman I can tell you how amazing it is to think about a man every minute of every day - to long for his touch and fantasize about him. To do this you need to show her a better time in bed than she's ever had before. It may sound quite difficult on the face of it but this is a very learnable skill.
Teasing is vital. Take your time. Take longer than you think is acceptable. It will drive her crazy. Make her want something and deny her, make her want it desperately and still tease. Only when she begs should you give her exactly what she wants.
I used to date a guy and he wasn't too confident. However, once we'd had sex a few times his confidence shot through the roof. The reason was because he was exceptional in bed. The one thing that made him stand out was his extraordinary penis. I found it irresistible.
More recently I was dating another man who had a penis which I can only describe as out of this world. I asked him how it was so special and he told me that he had enhanced it through natural penis enlargement.
Shana is a sex expert who recommends http://www.thepenisbible.com/ to any man wanting to improve his penis so he becomes a sensational lover

Personalize Your Bridesmaids Dresses

Stop worrying about the expense for your bridesmaids dresses because you can still have your pretty friends all decked out without breaking the bank. They can look their best in different dresses, too, not the usual look-alike frumpy monstrosities that have put friendships to the test.
Bridesmaids Potpourri
The present-day bridesmaids don't have to suffer the humiliation of wearing bridesmaids dresses that resemble wedding props. They can wear dresses that flatter their figures, or wear dresses of the same color but in different lengths and shapes, provided these are in keeping with the tone of the wedding.
It was common before to have the same cut of bridesmaids dresses for all bridesmaids, never mind if the hand-picked bridesmaids had different figures. Today's bridesmaids can choose their dresses, and their selections reflect choices that boost their confidence and their looks.
Since the bridesmaids no longer have to spend for the bridesmaids dresses, brides like you have to be creative to avoid overspending but still making sure that everybody is happy with their dress, from cut to color combinations and accessories that perfectly expresses their whims.
Gorgeous Bridesmaids sans the Expense
As the bride, you will have to take matters into your hands and discuss details with your enlisted bridesmaids. Make sure to air the following concerns - budget for the dresses, wedding theme, dress color and style, and accessories.
Make it clear about the color theme, whether you are going monochromatic or a uniform shade of shimmering bottle green. In concession to the formality of the event, request your friends to have the same dress length for a picture perfect effect. Your friends will understand your concern.
The most important details of the dresses will be your creativity when it comes to personalizing the dresses. You can add a swath of silky ribbon or a similarly designed corsage for the bridesmaids. The bridesmaids may be wearing dresses in different shades of blue, but the uniform corsage or ribbon trim will coordinate the look. Although the bridesmaids will be donning different dresses in color or shape, you'll have them clearly labeled with your personal insignia, a corsage of freesias and baby's breath, or a swath of ribbon.
Breaking from Tradition
More couples are breaking away from the usual wedding traditions of wearing wedding gowns and tuxedos. Couples are also doing their own invitations, selecting less formal venues, selecting their music, and coming up with new rituals that have a personal significance for them.
When it comes to bridesmaids dresses, you can always choose dresses your friends will love to wear again and again. So keep an eye on the dresses they prefer to wear for formal parties, and incorporate your observations in your selection of the dresses for the bridesmaids and maid of honor.
There is no harm in trying vibrantly colored dresses for your bridesmaids if you feel that the pastel colors are too tame for your wedding theme. You can choose any of these colors: orange, red, fuchsia, and vermillion. You can ask suggestions for color coordinated trims or accessories to personalize the bridesmaids dresses.
When the wedding is over, your friends will be proud to show off their bridesmaids dresses; they'll remember the event with fondness, a far cry from the bridesmaids of yesterday who had to keep a tight lid on the dresses they wore as bridesmaids.

Mid Life In Women - 6 Signs It's Happening!

By Jeanne May

Mid life is a natural process that happens to us all. It typically happens at about 40 years of age, give or take 20 or so years... and can continue for another 20 or so years. It's a normal part of "maturing" and can be a difficult time for many people, particularly women who also go through menopause at this time.
Whether we like it or not, it will arrive! Many dread the thought of it happening... it's a sure sign we are getting older! If you are going through mid life may experience a wide range of things including:
feelings of restlessness... and wanting to do something completely different with your life including changing career, going back to study, traveling...
discontent with life and the lifestyle you've had prior to now.... this lifestyle may have provided you with happiness or fulfillment in the past, but it's not what you want for the rest of your life
boredom with things or people that have been central in your life up until now... this could include groups you belong to and have done for many years, your house, your car, certain friends, your partner
questioning the meaning of life... it's is often a time of reflecting on your life... taking stock of what you've achieved, what you're doing compared to what you've always wanted to do, questioning decisions you've made and the consequences of those decisions on your current life
questioning "who am I?" and "where is my life going?"
hormonal changes...can create much disruption to a woman's life including all kinds of physical and emotional symptoms such as mood swings, sleeping problems, weight gain...
Living through mid life can be a tricky thing (and sometimes downright horrendous) for the one going through it as well as for those close to the person.
Although we cannot prevent this stage of our life from taking place, been aware of realistic and practical techniques that can help control and manage the symptoms of this period of life can go a long way in dealing with it and reducing the intensity of what's happening.

Views On Women

Men and women are morally and intellectually equal. There are obvious physical differences between the sexes in terms of size and strength. Likewise, there are psychological differences, due to sexual roles, childbearing, etc. However, the point is both men and women survive on earth primarily by their minds i.e. their rational faculty.
In cultures, there is a direct correlation between the culture's quality of life, including general prosperity, political freedom, and the status of women. The abject poverty, political tyrannies, and general miserable conditions and attitudes in the Islamic world and Africa go hand in glove with the miserable status of women, including beatings, forced marriages, "honor killings", genital mutilations, foot binding, etc. At the same time, the prosperity and general quality of life in the Western world, especially the United States, correlate with the infinitely higher status of women.
Today, in this country, rap music is becoming progressively more obscene in its views towards women. Also, it's been pointed out that there are increasing numbers of web sites that demean the sex, either in terms of their intelligence or their "proper" roles as servants and vessels. Therefore, we can't be complacent as to prevailing attitudes anywhere towards women.
Women have demonstrated that they can handle virtually any occupation as well as men. Maybe firefighters and a few occupations relying on sheer physical strength have (very limited) degrees of exception. The point is these are borderline cases and don't invalidate the general rule.
Throughout my business career, from the 1960's to today, women have worked for me as actuaries, involving often intricate applied mathematics and statistics. These individuals always demonstrated ability equal to any male actuaries.
In summary, both men and women survive by their minds, and prosper to the extent they exercise their rational faculties.

Twisted Sisters Yarn Sock Book - A 'Must-Have' For Those Seriously Interested In Hand-Dyed Yarns

There has been a real resurgence in working with hand-dyed yarns. Only hand-dyed yarn can give your knitting project colors that are not only unique but endow it with wonderful colors that can't be had from mass produced yarn. The Sock Book from Twisted Sisters is a wonderful exponent in the art of hand-dyeing and spinning yarn and teaches you the 'know how' to make your own hand-dyed yarn.
The Sock Book is a beautiful book that has been put together by Lynne Vogel and her fiber-loving friends, The Twisted Sisters - a group of women who came together in the 1990s in Oregon and Tennessee who delight in dyeing, spinning, knitting, and crocheting. It is a real color fest and will delight those who love to spin and knit with rich, deep colors that can only come from hand-dyed yarns.
The book hasn't been written for novices; the Twisted Sisters Sock Book assumes that the reader has some basic knowledge of spinning and knitting yarn. But don't be put off if you are a novice - you can easily get this knowledge from other sources - you'll love the energy, enthusiasm and shear pleasure in working with color that permeates right through this book. Even if you never plan on hand-dyeing and spinning your own yarn, you'll gain insight into what makes Twisted Sister Yarn so special.
The book has been divided into four sections.
Color and Dyeing
This is probably the best chapter in the Sock Book - for those who love color and want to understand how color is applied to yarn. It explains and shows you the different ways to dye roving, depending both on your comfort with chemicals and color definitions you want. Lynne Vogel even discusses how Kool-Aid can be used as a dye!
The book goes into details on how to produce your dyed roving for spinning and how different techniques will impact the color flow in your yarn, and how this will, in turn, look in the final product.
Spinning the Fiber
Twisted Sister Yarn is produced using different dyeing preparations and different spinning methods: the way the fiber is spun makes a subtle, though important, change in the look of the color in the finished garment. There are lots of beautiful photographs to illustrate the different techniques: used to explain each step and each technique, with detailed explanations of what you see and how it got there.
Knitting the Socks
There are many who spin but don't knit. This chapter may persuade them to start. Likewise, there are many who don't spin but will love knitting with Twisted Sisters Yarn. There are many photographs and detailed instructions. The chapter has many sock designs from traditional designs, to those with the toes knitted in as well as the more unusual, like knitting a flat sock and adding "afterthought heels."
Suppliers of Twisted Sisters Yarn
This section gives a listing of suppliers and resources.
Twisted Sister Yarn has gone from a small group of women with an acute love of color and fiber into a not-so-small enterprise that supplies hand-dyed yarns from Twisted Sisters Yarn across the States and Canada. The growth in the popularity of Twisted Sisters Yarn hasn't resulted in mass produced yarn - for example, the Mirage Hand Paints are dyed in lots of 20 skeins, and the same color combinations are never repeated. The Sock Book is an informative, collaboration from like-minded women with a true appreciation of hand-dyed yarn.
Follow the links for more information about Twisted Sisters Yarn and other hand-dyed yarn like Rainbow Mills Yarn.
